CHARACTER DESIGN / DAIRY BEVERAGE
ALPINCATS
»THE PROJECT
From original drawings by Pascal Blais Studio in Canada, Leo Burnett commissioned my studio to develop thse characters and their world. The Alpin Cats—Capi, Fredo, and Vako—were created to represent the three flavors of Alpin drinks: chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. With a target audience of kids aged 7 to 11, these characters have a cool, urban vibe. They’re designed as a trio of streetwise friends who love graffiti, cruise around in their van, and are always getting into playful mischief.
»WHAT WE DID
I led the storytelling and visual direction, guiding my team in developing the 3D characters and CGI urban environments. While most of the stories took place in city settings, we also created scenes in snowy mountains. Initially, the stories centered around pranks that the trio would play on a group of neighborhood dogs, but we also produced seasonal commercials and promotions where the cats interacted with characters from other Alpina brands. I managed the art direction, sound design, and client relations, maintaining high standards for each project and ensuring strong audience engagement. Over the years, the Alpin Cats have become some of the most recognized brand characters in Colombia.
» ALPIN FACTORY
Eventually, Alpina decided to shift the focus to the product benefits with the "Alpin Factory" commercial. This made a huge impact on the scripts, The cats original personality shifted and they became the brand ambassadors. We had to re model their faces to have a more joyful appeal. The "Alpin Factory" ad became the most viewed commercial on YouTube in Colombia the year it launched.
